ECNV Announces New Volunteer Peer-Led Support Program

ECNV is excited to announce a new program in the coming months where so many of our consumers and their families who have benefited from our programs and services can begin to serve as leaders in helping others meet similar success. The Volunteer Peer-Led Support Program will enhance our mission to bring about positive outcomes, add value to consumers who’d enjoy all the tangible resources ECNV has to offer but in a group setting where they get gain more valuable insight, real ideas that work and increase access to their community, while creating alliances, building relationships and new friends.

Components of this program will include training for the Volunteers and topics that are of interest to consumers who have questions, need support around certain independent living goals, and have a desire to learn from others with shared experiences.

Studies have shown how effective peer group models can be in increasing positive outcomes, greater capacity to advocate on behalf of the participants and reliance on both self and community to troubleshoot barriers around living while disabled; and ECNV looks forward to deploying the program in the coming weeks.

Our first program is already set to start August 1, 2023. Aging Solo discusses a number of ways older adults with disabilities can thrive, create a network of support, and additional considerations when you find yourself in the latter stages of life. That program is enrolling now. If you are interested in volunteering for one of our upcoming programs, or learning more about our inaugural Aging Solo series, email us email us info@ecnv.org
