Healthy Relationships & Communication in the Workplace

ECNV offers this six-part training series in workplace readiness to help individuals navigate workplace expectations, promote healthy interactions and relationships, and ensure job security by avoiding offenses.  Through lectures, group discussions, worksheets, tutorials, case studies, and role play, this class will help you learn how to be successful and professional at work.

ECNV is a Center for Independent Living led by people with disabilities who provide advocacy and services to people with disabilities in Northern Virginia.

Training Curriculum

  • Module 1: Introduction to Workplace Culture and Norms 

  • Module 2: Identity and Diversity in the Workplace

  • Module 3: Presenting Yourself Professionally

  • Module 4: Communication Types and Skills

  • Module 5: Building and Maintaining Professional Relationships

  • Module 6: Navigating Workplace Challenges and Conflict Resolution

Participants will learn:

  • Workplace culture and how to identify essential workplace norms and expectations while understanding and embracing personal identity within the workplace.

  • The importance of presenting oneself professionally.

  • Effective written and verbal communication strategies, identifying ways to communicate about accommodations, and developing strategies for active listening.

  • Strategies for building positive professional relationships and identifying appropriate relationships in the workplace.

  • Common workplace challenges, develop problem-solving techniques, and practice giving & receiving workplace feedback.

Target Audience

Healthy Relationships & Communication in the Workplace is perfect for people with disabilities who want to learn techniques to stay employed, improve their workplace readiness skills, and maintain professionalism.

Accessibility & Accommodations

Healthy Relationships & Communication in the Workplace is held in person.  Training locations will vary depending on the request for group training.  Reasonable accommodations may be requested.  Any questions about the program or accessibility are welcome at info@ecnv.org.

How to Participate in the Class

At this time, this class is only available to DARS-funded groups.  We are focused on expanding our capacity to provide this important class to others later this year.  Please stay tuned!
