Margarita Baquero to Speak at White House!! 

We are excited to announce!!

ECNV's own Margarita Baquero, will be speaking as part of a panel at the White House to celebrate the anniversary of Olmstead on 06/18/24. Margarita will speak about her personal journey with disability and discuss the impactful work of ECNV. #ECNV #DisabilityAdvocacy

Disabled Voters Rising, a New Training Series from New Disabled South

"Disabled Voters Rising: Political Education and Training Series” is a new training from New Disabled South, which covers numerous topics over Zoom between June and October. The goal of this series is to provide necessary skills and knowledge in disability policy and accessibility to voters, policymakers and elected officials, election campaigns, and voter contact organizers and organizations.

The Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council 2025-2026 State Plan

The Virginia Statewide Independent Living Council (SILC) is pleased to release their draft 2025-2027 State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) for public comment. This Plan details areas of priority and emphasis for the Independent Living Network over the next three years. The draft SPIL and the public commenting form are both available on the SILC website at: https://www.vasilc.virginia.gov. The SILC appreciates your feedback! Comment Period Closes:  June 28, 2024.

The Audio Description Project

The mission of the American Council of the Blind's (ACB) Audio Description Project (ADP) is to promote and advocate for the use of high-quality Audio Description in television, movies, performing arts, museums, educational materials and other venues where the presentation of visual media is critical to the understanding and appreciation of the content.  Their goals are to sponsor a broad range of activities designed to build awareness of audio description among the general public as well as its principal users, people who are blind or have low vision.

DBHDS Seeking Volunteers for Waiver Slot Assignment Committee

Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) is seeking new members to join the Waiver Slot Assignment Committee. Candidates must be knowledgeable or have experience with services for people with disabilities.  This committee is made up of volunteers who help review the information presented, regarding nominees for vacant waiver slots.
