Bienvenidos Todos Webinar Series
Save the Date: December 12, 2024 for the next Bienvenidos webinar!
Bienvenidos Todos will host webinar presentations about disability resources and services especially for Latinos with disabilities, their families, caregivers, advocates, and those who serve Latinos. Monthly webinars will cover disability topics especially as they pertain to Latinos and their different residency statuses. Webinars are available in English and Spanish.

Arlington County Transportation Listening Session: December 4, 2024
Do you live or work in Arlington, or do you simply come to shop or visit family or friends? As someone who has a disability, is accessible, affordable and reliable transportation essential for you to live an independent, productive and fulfilling life? You’re not alone!
ECNV and Arlington County are partnering to host two listening sessions for members of the disability community.
Date: Wednesday, December 4, 2024
Location: Bozman Government Center, 2100 Clarendon Blvd., Arlington, VA 22201
Choose a Time: 1pm-3pm: Conf. Rm. 216 or 6-8 p.m. in Conf. Rm. 311 (Food served: Dinner and beverages)

ECNV’s Disability Justice Mindful Design Lab, facilitated by Circles for Conscious Change, is an 8-month incubator for social change solutions designed by and for people with disabilities in Northern Virginia. The Mindful Design Lab core curriculum is an experiential program involving a blend of personal reflection, mindfulness-based leadership skills, and social entrepreneurship skills.

Money Matters Registration Open for January 2025
Money Matters - Registration for January Money Matters Is Now Open!
ECNV offers this five-part training to help people with disabilities understand and manage money. Eligibility is open to FIS Waiver and DARS referrals as well as anyone interested in expanding their knowledge about money. Virtual classes will take place on Wednesdays from 4-5pm, January 8 – February 5, 2025. Registration is required and closes December 20. All interested individuals (or counselors) are welcome to ask questions at info@ecnv.org. Use our Online Registration Form to sign up today! Participants must be Northern Virginia residents.

ECNV Around Town
Vaccines for All!
During the month of November, ECNV has continued with its community vaccination campaign and distribution of free COVID-19 home tests in Northern Virginia, thus fulfilling the mission of caring for diverse communities, guaranteeing access to vaccines and being able to access them for free COVID-19 home tests. In addition to these activities ECNV also participated in other events related with the celebration of the Bienvenidos Todos Project.
ECNV is back with its free vaccination program for people from multicultural communities! We will be providing flu vaccines throughout the fall at different events and health fairs.
RAMP Coordinator Kevina Brown at Volunteer Fest 2024
On Friday, November 1, 2024, Kevina Brown attended Volunteer Fest at the PARC at Tysons. Kevina participated in the Tyson Forest Park clean up. This was a rewarding experience in which she was able to assist and support the community as well as explore incentives and activities for the Ready to Achieve Mentor Program (RAMP).
Health and Wellness Fair at Alfred Baptist Church
On Saturday November 2, 2024 ECNV participated at the Health and Wellness Fair at Alfred Baptist Church in Alexandria. This was a great opportunity to serve and create partnerships with the African American community that congregates in this revered temple.
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Vaccine Clinic
On Wednesday, November 6, 2024 ECNV provided vaccines to the Latino community at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. This Church serves a diverse and multi-ethnic congregation and seeks to promote racial harmony and social justice. Their primary focus is within the immediate community and work to provide for the well-being of the marginalized everywhere.
2024 FCPS/CTS Moving on to Life in the Community Resource Fair
Carlos Marquez and Kevina Brown attended the 2024 FCPS/CTS Moving on to Life in the Community Resource Fair at Fairfax High School on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Over 200 families attended the event where various vendors from all over NOVA were able to share programming and services.
Bienvenidos Webinar
On Thursday, November 14, 2024 the Bienvenidos Todos team hosted an ADA webinar. More than 500 hundred attendees learned how the Americans with Disabilities Act prohibits discrimination in the workplace and requires reasonable accommodations for employees with disabilities, as well as ensure that state and local government services are accessible to people with disabilities, includes places like restaurants, hotels, stores, and entertainment venues, and requires relay services for people with hearing or speech impairments.
Spirit of Community
On Friday, November 15, 2024, ECNV staff, Pansy, Emily, Cherie and Rosalia attended the Spirit of Community luncheon provided by Arlington Community Foundation.
Berkdale Apartments Flu Clinic
Bienvenidos Todos Organizadora, Jimena Barron, was the ECNV host at the vaccine clinic at the Berkdale Apartments in Herndon, on Saturday, November 16, 2024. ECNV vaccinated 37 mostly uninsured people, - primarily Latino, Arabic, and non-Hispanic - at the partnership with Fairfax County and Walgreens pharmacy.
Rosalia Fajardo Receives Alfonso Garcia Robles Award
On Wednesday, November 20, 2024 Rosalia Fajardo ECNV Director of Disability Equity and Strategic Partnerships was the recipient of Alfonso Garcia Robles award. This event was at the National Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City, given by the General Rector of this great cloister Leonardo Lomeli Venegas, for her outstanding work in favor of migrants. This university gives this award in honor of the memory of Dr. Garcia Robles, who received the Nobel Peace Prize for his commitment to respect, freedom and his fight for Peace.
Mason District Healthcare Town Hall
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Bienvenidos Todos Organizadora, Jimena Barron, ENDependence Center for Northern Virginia (ECNV), in partnership with Walgreens, offered free flu vaccines at the Mason District Healthcare Town Hall, hosted by Supervisor Andres Jimenez in partnership with Fairfax Health Department. At this town hall, attendees learned about public health resources and received speech and hearing screenings.
Virginia Beach Special Education and Transition Workshop
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, Rosalia Fajardo traveled to Virginia Beach to present to a group of Latino parents for a workshop on Special Education and Transition. This event was hosted by Bienvenidos Todos organizadora Ana Catellanos in partnership with Matias Hope Foundation /Executive Director Lesly Lancaster. Latino immigrant parents had the opportunity to learn about their rights and those of their children with disabilities to have a free and appropriate public education. It was an emotional presentation that empowered parents to continue fighting for the inclusion and equality of their children.
Interfaith Fairfax Immigration Forum
On Thursday, November 21, 2024 ECNV participated in the Immigrants in Fairfax County: Challenges and Opportunities, which was hosted by Interfaith Fairfax Immigration Forum at Little River United Church of Christ with Karol Escalante Karol Escalante Director of Immigrant Community Affairs Office of the County Executive Fairfax County. This presentation focused on the immigrant population in Fairfax County -- demographics, challenges, and opportunities for success. Participants held a broad dialogue about the future of the immigrant community with the upcoming changes and measures to protect them.
