COVID-19 Vaccine Partnership with Walgreens
On Tuesday, October 31, 2023 ECNV started a new partnership with Walgreens thanks to the Bridge Access Program, which is funded by the Department of Health and Human Services. This partnership enables ECNV to provide free vaccines to the community of people with all disabilities who do not have medical insurance.

Bailey’s Community Center Vaccine Clinic
On Friday, October 27, 2023, ECNV hosted a COVID-19 vaccine clinic at Bailey's Community Center in Falls Church, VA.

Wingler House Apartments Vaccine Clinic
On Friday, October 27, 2023, ECNV also hosted a vaccine clinic for seniors at Wingler House Apartments. Fourteen residents were vaccinated.

Latino American Festival
On Sunday, October 15, 2023, ECNV staff, Director of Multicultural Families, Rosalia Fajardo, Independent Living Specialist / Travel Trainer Margarita Baquero and Communications and Publications Specialist Elaine Shaw attended the Latino American Festival in Arlington. ECNV distributed COVID-19 home tests to fair attendees, as well as gave information about other ECNV programs such as travel training and workshops.

2023 ECNV Vaccination Events
With funding from USAging’s Aging and Disability Vaccination Collaborative and the Administration for Community Living (ACL), ECNV is organizing community vaccination events especially for seniors and people with disabilities.
World Alzheimer's Month “Never too early, never too late”
World Alzheimer’s Month is recognized every September and World Alzheimer’s Day is 21 September. This is a global opportunity to educate, support and raise awareness of the continued challenges affecting people with dementia and their families. September is also a time for the world to communicate what their communities are doing to alleviate the stress of daily challenges affected by dementia. This year’s theme is “Never too early, never too late”.
Fairfax County Health Department Multicultural Advisory Council Quarterly Meeting
On June 20, 2023, Rosalia Fajardo represented ECNV at the Fairfax County Health Department Strategic Plan to provide input on Health Equity in Action & Vibrant Community Relationships as Priority Areas for the next five years.

CDC Now Allows Additional Covid-19 Shots For Older Adults And Immunocompromised Adults
Because the protection provided by the COVID-19 vaccine fades much more quickly for people 65 and older and people who are immunocompromised, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its COVID-19 vaccine recommendations to allow an additional a dose of the updated (bivalent) vaccine for these populations.
Sexual Victimization of I/DD Populations
Sexual Assault is a critical issue for the disability community, and particularly for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). While the statistics vary, people with I/DD are between 2-7 times more likely to be victims of sexual violence.
Sexual Health Resource Hub
The Arc of Harrisonburg and Rockingham partnered with the Disability-inclusive Sexual Health Network (DSHN) and The Arc of Augusta to release an accessible sexual health resource hub for those with IDD.
